Chestatee Wildlife is not responsible for any visitor injuries by animals.
Visitors feed and visit the animals at their own risk. Social distancing is required.
Where do the animals come from? Most of the animals are rescues, orphaned, or were in need of a forever home.
Are you open? Check the weather in zip code 30533 if it is raining we may not be open.
How much is regular admission? Age 11 and younger $10 Age 12 and older $15
Age 12 months and younger are free.
How much is admission for a field trip? Monday thru Friday groups of 25 or more are only $10 per person. Each person is $10students, teachers and chaperones- reservations are required.
How does the Small Animal Encounter work for school field trip groups? NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME DUE TO COVID. This encounter awesome and is private for your group. Reservations are required. The cost is $100 per show and if you have a large group you should consider having two shows. Our zookeepers will explain were the animal are native to, characteristics of the species and other interesting facts. It is up to you to keep the children quite. We require you to appoint a teacher to be in charge of signaling the children to quite down. A few examples of the animals are: Moluccan Cockatoos, Hedgehogs, Alligators, African Spur Thigh Tortoises and brown and white Skunk! At the end we let the children ask question!
When will the Small Animal Encounter take place and where? NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME DUE TO COVID 19.
Should we divide into small groups? Yes! Each group will need a responsible adult, preferably a teacher.
Can we feed the animals on field trips? No. Feed bags are not available for purchase with field trips.
Do the animals bite? Yes, they can bite and you feed them at your own risk.
How long does it take to see the animals? On average about 1 1/2 hours.
When is a final head count required for a field trip? The day of arrival is fine.
Can parents come with the field trip? That is your decision. We do request that you collect for the parents and siblings ahead of time or they must bring cash the day of the field trip. Parents must carpool because we are limited on parking once the buses are here. Everyone must arrive at the same time or the group discount will not apply.
Can we pay the day of our visit? Yes.
Do you take school checks? Yes. Make checks payable to Chestatee Wildlife Preserve, Inc.
(we do not take personal checks).
Do you take credit cards? Yes.
Do you require a deposit for a field trip? No.
Is there a charge to use the picnic table or pavilions? No, as long as you bring your own garbage bags to dispose of the trash at your own home or facility due to our limited dumpster space.
Can we bring a packed lunch? Yes and be sure to pick up and remove all trash.
Do you have picnic tables? Yes- free of charge.
Is there a specific start time? We open at 10 am.
What is the latest we can arrive? 2:45 pm is the last entry.
Is there a tour or is it self-guided? Self-guided.
Any parking instructions for buses? Yes, direction upon arrival. (Encourage parents to carpool!)
What kind of trails do you have? All of our trails are bark chips. (After a hard rain it takes several days to get re-barked.)
Do you provide wheelchairs? No we do not have any. Please bring your own.
Are pets allowed? No, they are not allowed for their own safety and we do not have any areas for them go to the bathroom.
Are service dogs allowed? Yes, and restraints are required.
Do you sell refreshments and snacks? Pepsi and Coke products. No food.
Do you have restrooms? Yes porta johns.
Do you have birthday parties? Yes, and reservations are preferred.
Can we play with the tigers? No
