Chestatee Wildlife Preserve, Inc. is not responsible for any visitor injuries by animals. Visitors feed and visit the animals at their own risk.
How much is the admission fee for a field trip? Monday through Friday, groups of 25 or more are only $10 per student. Teachers and chaperones who come on the bus are free. Reservations are required.
Should we divide into small groups? Yes! Each group will need a responsible adult.
Can we feed the animals on field trips? Yes, feed bags are available to students for $3 each.
Do the animals bite? Yes, they can bite, but we have feed chutes.
How long does it take to see the animals? On average about 1 1/2 hours.
When is a final head count required for a field trip? The day of arrival is fine.
Can parents come on the field trip? That is your decision. They must bring cash on the day of the field trip. Parents must carpool because parking is limited once the buses arrive. Everyone must arrive at the same time for the $10 group discount to apply.
Can we pay on the day of our visit? Yes.
Do you take school checks? Yes. Make checks payable to Chestatee Wildlife Preserve, Inc.
Do you take credit cards? Yes, but a 3% fee will be added.
Do you require a deposit for a field trip? No.
What if it rains? We can reschedule.
Is there a charge to use the picnic table or pavilions? No, however, you must bring your own large garbage bags to dispose of the lunch trash at your own facility. The reason is that students often throw away items by mistake. If you take it with you, you will have the items without having to come back to retrieve them from our dumpster.
Can we bring a packed lunch? Yes, and be sure to pick up and remove all trash. See above.
Is there a specific start time? We open at 10 a.m., but schools may arrive at 9:15 with reservations.
What is the latest we can arrive? 2:00 pm.
Is there a tour, or is it self-guided? Field trips are divided into groups and are either self-guided or led by one of us.
Any parking instructions for buses? Yes, direction upon arrival. (Encourage parents to carpool!)
What kind of trails do you have? All of our trails are bark chips and gravel.
Are pets allowed? No, they are not allowed for their own safety, including emotional support animals. We do not have any designated areas for them to use the bathroom.
Do you sell refreshments and snacks? Coke products. No food.
Do you have restrooms? Yes, porta-johns and outdoor sinks.
